TAKE CARE OF OTHERS

Sirach 7:32-36 (not in Protestant Bible)
Stretch forth your hand to the poor,
That your blessing may be complete.
Let the kindness of giving be shown
In the presence of all the living,
And do not withhold kindness from the dead.
Do not withdraw yourself from those who weep,
And mourn with those who mourn.
Do not hesitate to visit a sick man,
For by such visits you will be loved.
With all your words, remember the time you will die,
And you will never sin.
Personal challenge
Not much to add to today’s powerful passage. It is such a sad shame that so many who profess to be Christians will never see these verses that surely made it into the beatitudes (Matthew 5: 1-12) as preached by Jesus. If we follow Christ then we will take care of the poor, give to others out of kindness, be with those who weep, and mourn with those who mourn. Glory be to God!
